The Project

Located off the spectacular, sinuous desert coast of Los Cabos in Baja California, Casa Escondida presents an ideal vacation setting that blends home and resort living.

The project is located inside the Punta Ballena Residences of Esperanza, an Auberge Resort, and a featured residence of the Haciendas collection. Accommodations at Casa Escondida feature full service and amenities of Esperanza, including twice-daily housekeeping and a dedicated hacienda host, complementing the experience of a private residence with 5-star resort luxury.

The house accommodates numerous guests in a unique manner, offering four bedroom suites and multiple living spaces to create myriad ambiences, ranging from intimate and private to grand and social. The living room with ocean view, bar, dining room, eat-in kitchen, steam room, and TV room that doubles as an optional fifth bedroom suite are all located on the ground floor, connected to outdoor living and dining areas, as well as a central courtyard. An extensive sunbathing terrace surrounds the infinity pool and jacuzzi, complete with cabana lounges and a shady grove of olive and palo verde trees. On the upper floor, the four suites with full bathrooms are oriented toward varying views of the ocean and surrounding landscape.

Both contemporary and rooted in local building traditions, the aesthetic and materiality of the house are divided between inside and outside. The exterior walls are enveloped in cantera stone, and the roof form and tiles mimic the neighboring structures of Punta Ballena; in contrast, the interior is defined by minimalist, diaphanous spaces formed by textured concrete, stone, wood, and extensive windows and sliding doors.

Designed by award-winning firm Studiohuerta, Casa Escondida was completed in 2020. The project presents a truly singular event in vacation home experiences, offering a work of exceptional design linked with the luxury and comfort of a world-class resort.
